Labor Secretary Continues “America At Work” Tour

Her stops focus on energy, agriculture, and apprenticeship development.

Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer recently visited West Virginia, Kentucky, and Tennessee as part of her nationwide “America at Work“ listening tour to gather input from workers, employers, and local officials. In West Virginia, she toured a coal-fired power plant and met with workers and managers to discuss safety practices, workforce pathways, and regional energy needs. Employees emphasized job safety and access to careers that do not require four-year degrees.

In Kentucky and Tennessee, Secretary Chavez-DeRemer met with officials in the horseracing and energy sectors, including officials at Keeneland and the Tennessee Valley Authority. Discussions focused on labor needs, apprenticeship programs, and the role of innovation in workforce development.

“At the Department of Labor, we are committed to putting American Workers First by providing pathways to mortgage-paying jobs and ensuring everyone comes home safely at the end of the day,” Secretary Chavez-DeRemer said.

She continued, “I enjoyed sharing that commitment with workers in West Virginia, Kentucky, and Tennessee this week, where I also learned more about how the department can help address workplace challenges so employers and employees can better provide for themselves and their families.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Secretary Chavez-DeRemer and Labor Department officials as they assess workforce conditions across regions and industries.
  • For workers in energy, agriculture, and industrial sectors whose jobs involve physical risk and public responsibility.
  • For cooperation between federal agencies, employers, and labor organizations as workforce and training policies are developed.
  • For the president and members of his administration as they endeavor to increase employment opportunities in the U.S.
